Frequently Asked Questions
Scheduled Group Tours
Is a Scheduled Group Tour right for me?
A Foodie Cycling Scheduled Group is ideal for you if you enjoy connecting with fellow travelers who share your interests in traveling, riding, and exploring the culture and cuisine of a destination. Additionally, if you appreciate the expertise, support, and guidance of our local trip leaders. With various daily options to choose from, there are numerous ways to enjoy your trip; it is ultimately an individual experience within a group environment. You can determine your level of interaction, even opting to ride independently.
How does a Scheduled Group Departure work?
- Choose your desired date and destination, joining other fellow travelers in the same group.
- Our groups are small, most of them being around 10-12 guests to guarantee an intimate experience.
- All of our Scheduled Groups are conducted by local trip leaders, allowing you to immerse yourself in the local culture.
- A support van will accompany you every day, and snacks/drinks will be given. Extra support vehicles will be added based on the group size.
- Every day, 3 to 4 routes of different levels will be available.
- On moving days, your luggage will be transferred from hotel to hotel.
- You can choose between a road bike or an ebike at no extra cost.
- If you require pre/post trip assistance, we can provide it.
- All you have to do is bike, eat, and enjoy yourself!
If I book a trip, is it guaranteed to run?
All Foodie Cycling Scheduled Trips are guaranteed to run with a minimum of 4 guests. While we won’t proactively share current bookings, you can request this information at any time. If, by 100 days before departure, the group has fewer than 4 guests, we’ll contact you with options:
- Transfer to another guaranteed date.
- Opt to pay an extra fee to proceed with the trip, calculated based on your party’s size.
How do you support different riding levels?
At Foodie Cycling Scheduled Groups, we support various riding levels by welcoming any pace, allowing guests to ride at their own speed. Navigation is facilitated with our GPS device. Our local trip leaders, both in the van and on the bike, offer continuous support during stops, providing water, mechanical assistance, or a boost up the hill if needed. We ensure visibility at key spots on each route, optimizing our support for all riding abilities and encouraging an inclusive and enjoyable cycling adventure for everyone.
How fit do I have to be?
All riding levels are welcome on Foodie Cycling group trips! We offer at least three daily ride options—Sweet, Salty, Spicy—detailed in the itinerary. Some rides include a strategic shuttle to skip a significant climb or shorten the route. One dedicated van is available for all our scheduled group departures; if the group size reaches ten people, a second vehicle is added. The option to switch to the van is always available. You can choose an e-bike at no additional cost if you have concerns about your riding skills.
How big are the groups?
Our groups are small, most of them being around 10-12 guests to guarantee an intimate experience and lots of flexibility. Our goal is to provide an individual, personalized experience within a group context.
Are solo travelers welcome?
Certainly! Our trips warmly welcome solo travelers, whether you’re adventuring alone or with friends. Please note that choosing a single room incurs a supplementary charge. We foster a friendly and inclusive environment for connecting with fellow travelers who share your passion for exploration, whether you’re traveling as a couple, solo, or with friends.
Can I know who has already booked a trip?
If you’re interested, we can provide general information about the trip’s demographics upon request. However, for privacy reasons, we won’t disclose any personal details. Feel free to inquire if you have any specific information you’d like to know.
Can I design my own itinerary?
No, our scheduled group departures follow established itineraries, carefully curated to showcase the best of each region. We are confident that our selection offers a diverse range of options, covering all abilities and preferences. However, for a personalized experience, consider our Private Trips or Self Guided Tours. There, you have the flexibility to create a custom, tailor-made itinerary that suits your preferences and desires.
What is your cancellation policy?
Your deposit is fully refundable on Scheduled Group Departures up to 121 days before the trip starts. Detailed Terms and Conditions are available here. Because you can’t plan for the unexpected, we strongly recommend you purchase a Travel Insurance to help protect against financial loss due to cancellation fees or any other reason that may not allow you to travel on the booked dates.
Are non-riders welcome?
Foodie Cycling welcomes both riders and non-riders to our unforgettable vacations. Our trips offer more than just riding, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Contact us for details on the best options for non-riders. We can assist in arranging additional activities and extra transport during daily ride options, with additional costs applicable.
Can I bring my children?
On our scheduled group departures, we maintain an adult-focused atmosphere with a minimum age requirement of 16. Additionally, some of the hotels we partner with have restrictions for children under 16. In contrast, our Private Trips welcome participants of all ages, including children, offering families tailored and flexible itineraries to ensure everyone can partake in the adventure together.
How early do I need to book?
We recommend booking your Foodie Cycling trip at least 4-6 months in advance. To confirm availability with hotels and account for potential sell-outs, early booking is the most reliable way to secure a spot on your dream trip. Last-minute bookings, if available, can be accommodated up to one week prior to departure based on availability.
Which type of bike will I have?
You’ll have the choice of a top-range road bike or e-bike on all our itineraries. Upon request, we can also provide a hybrid bike, with confirmation subject to availability. Our partnerships with various providers in different regions ensure diverse options. For specific bike details on each trip, feel free to contact us, and we’ll provide you with the information you need.
If you plan to bring your own bike, please ensure it’s well-maintained and in good mechanical shape before your trip. You’ll be responsible for assembling and disassembling it as needed during the tour.
